200 Cameras

Sep 18, 2012

With buzz around our much-anticipated Annie Leibovitz exhibition building to a roar, we thought what better way to take a bit of inspiration from her wide-ranging and compelling work and apply a little of that to our great city during its 200th birthday?

And so 200 Cameras was born.

Thanks to our friends at Cord Camera, we have 200 disposable cameras we’ve been distributing to folks around town with goal of these shutterbugs (both professional and amateur) to document and share photos from their lives. We’re on the hunt for the creative, the mundane, the extraordinary, the surreal, the poignant, the anything-that-makes-Columbus-Columbus. As the photos come in we’ll be posting online and creating a gallery that will demonstrate not just life in Columbus, but the creative spirit that lives with her residents.

Want to take part? Sure you do.

We’ve got a limited number of cameras left, simply email us (mcweb@wexarts.org) to secure your camera. This is a first come, first served thing. But just because you may not get a camera doesn’t mean you can’t participate. If you’ve got a photo you want to share, just tag it #wexannie and post online and we’ll be sure it gets into our photo galleries to share your take on Columbus with the world. And this is something that will be ongoing during the run of the Leibovitz exhibition, so don’t worry about deadlines, just keep the pictures coming.

Happy photographing! We can’t wait to see what you’ve got and we’ll see you in our galleries when Annie Leibovitz opens on September 22.
