Call for Teaching Artists

Oct 08, 2007

Every summer, Wexner Center for the Arts offers workshops for young people through its Summer Youth Workshops and teenArts fusion: summer experiments programs. Drawing mostly from OSU graduate students and other local practicing artists who propose their own ideas and work in the media of their choice, students ages 4-18 are able to learn directly from those in the profession, with new ideas, new perspectives, and new forms.

Planning for the summer starts early, so Wexner Center for the Arts is now seeking students and artists who are interested in designing and teaching week-long half-day workshops during the summer.

Artists who are chosen to teach get to formulate their “dream class” while Wexner staff assists with planning, implementation and handles all registration and administrative details. Classes in art and technology, photography, and digital video are particularly popular, while classes in sculpture, dance, theater, poetry, and 2-D media and design fill quickly as well.

If you are interested in submitting an idea/proposal for a workshop, please send a brief cover letter describing your interests and a copy of your resume or curriculum vitae to Kendra Meyer at kmeyer@wexarts.org by Monday, November 19, 2007. Students in all artistic disciplines are invited to apply. This opportunity is available to local Columbus artists that will be able to contract to a specific week (or weeks) in the summer. Contact Kendra by phone (614) 292-4614 or email if you have any questions.
