Chris Marker Show Travels to 3 Continents

Wex curator Bill Horrigan's exhibition Chris Marker: Staring Back, featuring nearly 200 photographs by the revered French artist and filmmaker, has legs. After its debut at the Wexner Center in summer of 2007, the show traveled to New York (on that occasion, newly anointed Pulitzer Prize-winning critic New York Times critic Holland Cotter called it a “meditative, deep-fall show”). It then went on to Zurich and Antwerp—and next stop is Sã Paulo, at the Museu da Imagem e do Som (MIS), July 14–September 28, 2009. In addition, Silent Movie—a perennially touring Marker installation that Horrigan curated for the Wexner Center in '95 as part of a Residency Award project—will be on view at the Peter Blum Gallery in New York (Chelsea location) as part of a Marker show May 16–July 31. Art in America has noted that “if [Marker's] newfound popularity in North America has a single source, it would have to be Bill Horrigan….who for over a decade worked closely with Marker to ensure his visibility on this side of the Atlantic.”
