Ohio Shorts 2016 Recap

Erik Pepple, Media & Public Relations Manager

May 04, 2016

This year's Ohio Shorts winners (l to r): Eli Crognale, Parker Hao, Cole Dehlendorf, Sidney Kolouch, Jarrod Welling Cann, Erick Stoll, and Nathan Hippenmeyer

For 21 years we’ve been showcasing the very best in short form moving image work from around the Buckeye State at Ohio Shorts. It’s one of our favorite events of the year and the opportunity to share in the celebration with Ohio-based film and video artists is always a wonderful, inspiring time. And each year we’re reminded anew of the sheer amount of talent and vision located right in our own backyard.

This year’s showcase was no exception.

Our jury and sold-out audience no doubt had a tough choice, but here are their picks for both the Youth and Adult Divisions:

Twin Falls, Nathan Hippenmeyer (Audience Choice Award)

Arwinn, Cole Dehlendorf, Parker Hao, Sidney Kolouche and Eli Crognale (Youth Division Juror’s Choice)

Good White People, Jarrod Welling-Cann and Erick Stoll (Adult Division Juror’s Choice)

Ohio Shorts couldn’t happen without the support of the crowds who pack our theater each year and the filmmakers and moving image artist who share their work. Huge thanks to them and thanks to this year’s judges: John Daugherty, Executive Director, Greater Columbus Film Commission; Marisa Espe, Education Assistant, Wexner Center for the Arts; Jennifer Lange, Curator of the Wexner Center’s Film/Video Studio Program.
