Oct 28, 2011

Famed cartoonist Art Spiegelman is back in the news with the release of his long-anticipated MetaMaus, his look back on his influential Pulitzer Prize-winning graphic novel Maus.  Spiegelman was a 2010-11 Wexner Center Residency Award recipient in Media Arts and during the year gave two presentations that reflected his deep knowledge of and passion for the history of comics.  The first was an interview and wide-ranging look at Spiegelman's career with Wexner Director of Film/Video Dave Filipi on October 17, 2010 that served as a featured event during Ohio State's Festival of Cartoon Art.  His second lecture, “Dick Tracy, Chester Gould, and More” took place on May 19, 2011 and coincided with the exhibition Dick Tracy: Chester Gould's Blueprint Expressionism at Ohio State's Billy Ireland Cartoon Library & Museum which he co-curated.
