9 Intervals

(Aurélien Froment, 2012)

Contemporary Screen

Films fresh from the international film festival circuit, area premieres, award winners, and recent audience favorites.... You'll find films you won't see anywhere else in central Ohio on the Contemporary Screen schedule.

Wed, Mar 27, 2013 7 PM

This series of shorts uses the viewer’s seated position as their starting point. French artist Aurélien Froment creates a parody-like, minimalist look at the ergonomics of cinema chairs.

9 Intervals examines those seats’ construction and offers commentary from film enthusiasts, yoga instructors, and osteopaths. The series was designed to be screened before feature films; we’ll be showing the shorts as one program, along with a taped introduction by esteemed film scholar Tom Gunning. (app. 75 mins., DCP)

Belle and Sebastian

Belle and Sebastian headline Next@Wex Fest at the LC Outdoor Pavilion on June 14; the lineup also includes Jungle and Son Lux.

Hard to Be a God

Don't miss what Cinema Scope calls a "beautiful, brilliant…message from another time": Aleksei German's Hard to Be a God, screening Tuesday, May 26.
