Dayton filmmaker Askia Holloway's African American is an extraordinary examination of tensions between black Americans and black students from Africa at Ohio's Central State University, a historically black college. The documentary presents remarkably honest testimony from various students acknowledging the differences among them while striving for understanding. Holloway was the recipient of an Ohio Arts Council Fellowship in 2004 in support of the film's production. (23 mins.)

Askia Hollway introduces the screening. After the film, Ohio State students and university and community leaders explore the issued raised by the film in a panel discussion.
