Reminiscent of the remarkable recent film Dogtooth (which was coproduced by Athina Rachel Tsangari), this off-beat coming-of-age story is proof an exciting new wave of Greek cinema. Equal parts absurdist theater and melodrama, the film sincerely and humorously examines the defining moments in life, as a 23-year-old woman living in a small, coastal factory town deals with her father’s impending death. She finds the human species completely foreign, so she observes mankind through Sir David Attenborough’s mammal documentaries and the songs of Suicide.
