This perennially popular event pairs regional musicians with vintage silent films for an eclectic evening of live music and offbeat movies.

Program approx. 2 hours

Cleveland's avant-glam rockers, Cobra Verde, perform their score for Luis Bu'uel's surrealist masterpiece Un chien andalou (1928, 18 mins.). Bob Petric, longtime staple of the Columbus underground music scene, brings his guitar heroics to bear on the Barney Google animated film Tetched in the Head (1919, 5 mins.). Columbus keyboardist Tiffany Hutira will provide a synthesizer accompaniment to Buster Keaton's The Scarecrow (1920, 17 mins.). Avant Garage veteran Larry Marotta plays to Fatty Arbuckle's Backstage (1919; 17 mins.), featuring Buster Keaton. Plus a special performance by The Listening Party!

The Avant Garage event will be presented "cabaret style"--with beverages available from a cash bar--in the Wexner Center's black box Performance Space.
