Barbara Stanwyck stars in the pre-Code treasure Baby Face, and Fred MacMurray fetches up as a pilot in Thirteen Hours by Air.

Tonight's screening is held in conjunction with Cinevent, Columbus's annual gathering devoted to the celebration of classic cinema

Second film start time: 8:30 pm. One of the most notorious films of the pre-Code era, Baby Face stars Barbara Stanwyck as a saloon keeper's daughter who turns tricks in his bar before making her way to New York and sleeping her way up the corporate ladder. The film was scandalous to begin with—and this newly restored print includes five minutes of previously censored footage that was recently discovered by Mike Mashon of the Library of Congress. (Alfred E. Green, 1933; 76 mins.)

Anticipating Airport by more than thirty years, Thirteen Hours by Air stars Fred MacMurray as a pilot flying a colorful cast—including jewel thieves, an English nobleman, and an annoying little boy—from New York to California aboard the fastest transcontinental plane available. Airport security has come a long way. With Joan Bennett and Zasu Pitts. (Mitchell Leisen, 1936; 77 mins.)
