Classic movies screen under the stars on the Wexner Center Plaza in the Wex Drive-In series. Come early to choose your spot (bring blankets or lawn chairs). The party starts about 8 PM and the movies roll at about 9 PM. The Big Heat is a typically subversive film noir from director Fritz Lang. Glenn Ford stars as an incorruptible detective bent on bringing down a big city crime ring. Lee Marvin and Gloria Grahame (as a thug and his moll) steal the show, especially when Marvin throws a pot of hot coffee in Grahame's face! (90 mins., 35mm)
Please note: In the event of rain or other inclement weather, the screening will move inside the Wexner Center.
The Wex Drive-in continues on July 19 (Billy Wilder's Kiss Me Stupid) and August 16 (Buster Keaton's The General). All three screenings are "anchor events" for this summer's Campus Hops, which encourage community members to sample the cultural events and entertainment available along High Street in the University District. The Campus Hop is a cooperative effort of Campus Partners, Ohio State's College of the Arts, the Ohio Union, Summit United Methodist Church, South Campus Gateway, University Community Business Association, and the Wexner Center.
