Director Rajko Grlic, Ohio Eminent Scholar in Film at Ohio University, visits to introduce his recent film Border Post.
Border Post is the first film after Yugoslavia's bloody break up to be coproduced by its five former republics: Serbia, Slovenia, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Macedonia, and the director's native Croatia. It's also a surpassingly entertaining wartime comedy that focuses on a band of young soldiers stationed on the Albanian border in 1987, before the imminent collapse of socialism and the vicious ethnic wars that would follow. In addition to teaching and directing, Grlic organizes Croatia's popular Motovun Film Festival. (94 mins, 35mm)
