Starring Christopher Walken and Natalie Wood in her final film (she died during production), the sci-fi thriller Brainstorm follows a team of scientists who develop a device that can record a person’s thoughts and emotions so that others might also experience them—and so the military might exploit them. Directed by visual effects maestro Douglas Trumbull, who created the effects for such classics as 2001: A Space Odyssey, Close Encounters of the Third Kind, Blade Runner, and more. (106 mins., 70mm)
