A Conversation with Jim Jarmusch and Jonathan Rosenbaum

Retrospective: Jim Jarmusch

Joining a dryly comic sensibility, a mastery of restrained technique, and a deep sympathy for society's misfits, Ohio native Jim Jarmusch has produced as distinctive a body of films as any other American artist now working. For this retrospective, Jarmusch has paired his own works with those of other directors he admires.

Special thanks to Rachel Dengiz, Exoskeleton, for invaluable help with this series, and to Jonathan Rosenbaum.

Jarmusch discusses his work in this onstage conversation with film critic Jonathan Rosenbaum.

Highlighting the Jim Jarmusch film series is the director's appearance on Friday, October 12, for an onstage conversation with his most perceptive commentator, author and Chicago Reader critic Jonathan Rosenbaum. Their conversation will be interspersed with film clips and followed by questions from the audience.

Rosenbaum is the author of a book on Dead Man. More recently, he has published Movie Wars: How Hollywood and the Media Conspire to Limit What Films We Can See.
