"A tasty sonic aperitif to an unfamiliar world."--NEWSDAY

German/Turkish director Fatih Akin (Head-On) and pioneering musician Alexander Hacke tour the diverse musical and cultural mix that makes Istanbul the crossroads of East and West.

German/Turkish director Fatih Akin's previous film, Head-On (a hit of the center's 2005 season), was fueled by a captivating mix of Western rock and traditional Turkish music. In Akin's lively and fascinating documentary Crossing the Bridge, pioneering musician Alexander Hacke (of German avant-garde band Einsturzende Neubauten) leads an even more thorough journey through the diverse musical and cultural melange that can be found in Istanbul, the crossroads of the East and West.
