Moving freely between the present, flashbacks, and dreams, Němec’s debut feature Diamonds of the Night follows the escape of two young concentration camp prisoners through the woods of Sudetenland. (64 mins., 35mm) The absurdist and allegorical A Report on the Party and Guests follows picnicking bourgeois friends who are assaulted and inexplicably interrogated by a group of thugs. (70 mins., 35mm)
