Disorder J'entends plus la guitare

Double Feature

wex grid image fill

Two generations of foward-thinking French filmmaking and rebellious youth culture are represented in this double bill that pairs Assayas's Disorder with Philippe Garrel's J'entends plus la guitare. Assayas's debut feature, Disorder begins with three young friends breaking into a music store to steal instruments for their 80s' new wave band and then follows the consequences of their impulsive, panic-driven murder of the store owner. (1986; 91 mins.)

Little known in this country, Philippe Garrel is one of France's most highly esteemed filmmakers. The typically autobiographical J'entends plus la guitare (I No Longer Hear the Guitar) is Garrel's homage to pop icon Nico, with whom the director lived for 10 years. (1991; 98 mins.)
