Jarmusch pairs his own prison break picture, Down by Law, with a new print of Melville's suave heist film, Bob le flambeur.

Jarmusch brings together the unlikely trio of Tom Waits, John Lurie, and Roberto Benigni in Down by Law, a comic fable about three self-destructive characters who spring themselves from a Louisiana prison and escape into the bayou. (1986; 107 mins.)

Melville's first gangster film follows the exploits of an ex-gangster turned high roller as he moves from one high stakes game to the next. The film was a welcome relief from the French cinema de qualite of the time and a precursor to the style of the nouvelle vague. (1955; 102 mins.)
