Fourteen-year-old Felix Xaba dreams of becoming a jazz musician like his late father, but his mother does not support her son’s passion. Felix earns a scholarship to a prestigious private school, but when he attends he’s bullied by some classmates and looks to music for comfort. Desperate to play in the school’s jazz concert, he seeks out the aid of his father’s former bandmate Bra Joe and quickly excels on saxophone—until his mother finds out and forbids Felix from seeing Joe or playing the saxophone ever again. Will Felix win his mother over or is he destined to live his life without music?
