Forest Park Forest Zoo
As part of the Wexner Center’s 25th anniversary, The Box is dedicating the entire year of programming to work produced in the Film/Video Studio. Screenings in this free exhibition space for video, located just across from the Wexner Center Store, run continuously seven days a week, the same hours as our ticket office (Mon–Wed: 9 AM–6 PM; Thu–Fri: 9 AM–8 PM; Sat: 10 AM–8 PM; Sun: 11 AM–6 PM).
A nostalgic look at rural culture, Amy O’Neill’s Forest Park Forest Zoo takes its name from a once-popular storybook forest and petting zoo in Gallitzen, Pennsylvania. Now deserted and decaying, the quirky-folksy-kitschy buildings (a shoe house, a candy-striped barn, a crooked house) conjure memories of a simpler time before the corporatization of American culture and entertainment. Forest Park Forest Zoo is produced by Anna Sanders, Paris, and was edited in the Art & Technology studio. (8 mins., 16mm transferred to video)
Amy O’Neill lives and works in New York. Her work has been shown at galleries and museums in Europe and America including, most recently, the Sculpture Center in New York, Palais de Tokyo in Paris, and MAMCO (Musée d'Art Moderne et Contemporain) in Geneva.
