(Peter Yates, 1973)

In The Friends of Eddie Coyle, Robert Mitchum stars as a low-level gunrunner for the mob who thinks his only hope at reducing his upcoming prison stretch is by turning informant. Based on the novel by George V. Higgins, the film features great location shooting in and around Boston (including a memorable scene at a Bruins game in the old Boston Garden). Also with Peter Boyle. (103 mins., HD video)

Join Ohio State faculty for a roundtable discussion of the film and novel on Wednesday, January 22, at 4 PM in Thompson Library Room 165. The event is free and open to the public. Visit projectnarrative.osu.edu for more information.

Cosponsored by Ohio State’s Project Narrative.
