(Ethan Steinman, 2013)

Since the dawn of recorded history, water and its sources have been the key factor in establishing cities and civilizations. Taking us from Colombia to Argentina, Glacial Balance examines global environmental changes by introducing us to those first affected by the melting glacial reserve. Against the backdrop of some of the world’s most beautiful and inaccessible landscapes, coffee and quinoa farmers and fruit and wine exporters describe the impacts of a climate out of control. Among the experts featured in the film is Ohio State’s Dr. Lonnie Thompson of the School of Earth Sciences and the Byrd Polar Research Center. (95 mins., digital video)

Cosponsored by Ohio State’s Byrd Polar Research Center, COSI, and the Wexner Center for the Arts.
