Players: Sports on Film

While the provocative exhibitionHard Targetsexplores images of masculinity in modern-day sport in our galleries, you can take an eye-opening, hair-raising look at athletics in our Film/Video Theater. We promise you a side of football, cycling, and tennis you’ve never seen before when such cinematic talents as Jørgen Leth and William Klein fix their lenses on John McEnroe, George Best, and other all-time greats.

Classics

Many classic films are just as powerful today as when they were first released. We add such films from many genres to our schedule throughout the season. Many are shown on the occasion of their rereleases, in fresh, new or restored prints.

See this film about high school football in an Ohio town for free as part of Super Sunday: Hard Targets, an afternoon of free special events at the Wexner Center.

Go Tigers! chronicles the vigorous passion for high school football in the small rustbelt town of Massillon. Adding to the drama of a typical football season is the fact that an upcoming school funding vote is tied to the success of the team. (103 mins., 35mm)
