The Graduate

(Mike Nichols, 1967)

wex grid image fill

A funny, pointed evocation of the post-college doldrums and the source of many cultural touchstones of the 1960s.

An essential comedy of the New Hollywood, The Graduate stars Dustin Hoffman as a recent grad disillusioned by what he perceives as his middle-class parents' empty, alcohol-filled, comfort-obsessed lifestyle. Enter Mrs. Robinson (Anne Bancroft). The film's influential soundtrack with songs such as "The Sound of Silence" and "Mrs. Robinson" made folk-pop stars Simon & Garfunkel into household names. (105 mins., 35mm)

In the event of rain, the film screens in Mershon Auditorium at 9 PM.
