Guy Maddin outdoes himself in Keyhole, his singularly twisted take on The Odyssey through the lens of a classic gangster film. Get a special preview of the film, introduced by the director, at this Member-Only Screening on the heels of the film's premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival (on September 9).

Starring Isabella Rossellini and Jason Patric, Keyhole follows a gangster named Ulysses who navigates spectral memories in the rooms of his hideout instead of the epic voyage of legend. Described by Maddin as “the autobiography of a house and notable for its Maddinesque elements—lush black & white cinematography, sexual mischief, and offbeat humor—Keyhole represents a wonderful next step in this Canadian filmmaker's artistic trajectory.

Maddin was the 2008–09 Wexner Center Residency Award recipient in Film/Video, and the center provided commissioning funds for Keyhole’s production, as well as editing support from the Film/Video Studio Program. (93 mins., 35mm)
