“The best war movie of the year!”—indieWIRE

Directed by photojournalist Danfung Dennis and "shortlisted" for the 2011 Academy Award for Best Documentary, Hell and Back Again depicts the physical and emotional experiences of Marine Sgt. Nathan Harris after being wounded while on tour in Afghanistan. Cutting between footage of Harris in the field and coping with constant pain back in the States, the film presents an intimate, unpoliticized portrait of a single serviceman that defies the typical conventions of war documentaries. (88 mins, video)
