"The world Howl's gives us to live in, for a couple of hours, is pure magic. It is one of those places we might never wish to leave."—Arizona Republic

Perhaps the greatest figure in animation since Walt Disney, Hayao Miyazaki has been enchanting audiences of all ages for nearly three decades. Comic, dramatic, romantic, and transporting, Howl's Moving Castle is full of rich details, spectacular creatures, and imaginative design. The dazzling film sees Sophie, a hard-working teenage girl, get transformed into a 90-year-old woman by a jealous witch. She seeks refuge in the magical castle of the handsome-but-mysterious wizard Howl and the two work to bring peace to a war-torn kingdom.

This English-language version features the voices of Lauren Bacall and Christian Bale, Jena Malone, and Billy Crystal. There’s no better way to restore your sense of wonder than seeing a Miyazaki film – especially outside on a summer night! (119 mins., 35mm)

In the event of rain, this film will screen in Mershon Auditorium at 9 PM.
