"A tricky and tremendous film."--New York Times

The uniquely American story of an Iowa farmer and his passion for women, song, and corn.

Winner of the Grand Jury Award for Best Feature at the maverick film festival Slamdance, Hybrid traces the life and obsessions of Iowa centenarian farmer Milford Beeghly.

Made by Beeghly's grandson, Hybrid teases out the entrepreneurial farmer's passion for experimentation with hybrid corn, his love of song and verse, and his affection for women and the rural life he never wanted to leave.

Alternating animation sequences of the promiscuous mating habits of corncobs with 1950s TV commercials for Beeghly's Best Hybrids, it's a genuinely one of a kind work--as the New York Times raved, "a tricky and tremendous film that examines what work means to the soul: a topic that is particularly American." (92 mins.)
