September marks the debut of The Box, a new exhibition space for video in the lower lobby of the Wexner Center. The first program in the Box is the "Memory" episode of the PBS program Art:21, featuring Wexner Center residency artist Josiah McElheny.
This hour-long segment shows how artists delve into personal memory and the past to wrestle with veracity of history, the nature of interpretation, and the ways in which objects and images embody cultural memory.

Other featured artists include Mike Kelley, Susan Rothenberg, and Hiroshi Sugimoto, whose work has been included in several exhibitions presented by the Wexner Center, including Visions from America and From Pop to Now.

Josiah McElheny's latest work—an enormous chandelier—will be part of the reopening exhibition Part Object Part Sculpture. The work, which evokes the birth of the universe in the Big Bang, was designed by McElheny during his Wexner Center residency in a year-long collaboration with such Ohio State departments as astronomy, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, and architecture.

This event is presented in collaboration with Art:21, a nonprofit contemporary art organization that produces the PBS series, Art:21—Art in the Twenty-First Century, companion books, web site (, educational resources, and outreach programs.
