Film critic Juan Antonio Garcia Borrero talks about Cuba's rich cinematic tradition within the context of the Latin American film industry and introduces Humberto Soles's Miel para Oshÿn (2000).

Film critic and scholar Juan Antonio Garcia Borrero talks tonight as part of his residency at Ohio State.

Part of tonight's presentation is the screening of Humberto Soles's film Miel para Oshÿn, the story of a middle-aged man (Jorge Perrugorra) who returns to Cuba as an adult after being smuggled out of the country illegally as a child. With subtitles in English (2000, 123 mins.).

A practicing journalist from Camaguey, Garcia Borrero writes about cinema for Radio Imagen and the TV program Claqueta. He founded Cinema, a leading film journal, and has recently published a guide to Cuban feature films and a book about Cuban cinema in the 1990s.
