"A perfect gateway into the bizarre and fertile world of a unique film artist."—A. O. Scott, New York Times

Guy Maddin's singularly twisted take on The Odyssey returns to Columbus! Starring Isabella Rossellini and Jason Patric, Keyhole follows a gangster named Ulysses who navigates spectral memories in the rooms of his hideout instead of the epic voyage of legend. Described by Maddin as "the autobiography of a house" and notable for its Maddinesque elements—lush black & white cinematography, sexual mischief, and offbeat humor—Keyhole represents a wonderful next step in this Canadian filmmaker's artistic trajectory. The Wexner Center provided commissioning funds for Keyhole's production, as well as editing support from the Film/Video Studio Program. Maddin, the 2008–09 Wexner Center Artist Residency Award recipient in film/video, introduced the film at a members’ screening last September. (93 mins., HDcam)

The evening begins with Visitation (2011), the latest hand-painted, gothic short from the acclaimed experimental animator Suzan Pitt. Her landmark film Asparagus (1979) screened with David Lynch's Eraserhead on the midnight movie circuit. (9 mins., video)
