Winner of the Best Director and Actor awards at the Tokyo Film Festival, King of Masks is the story of an aging street performer who seeks a young apprentice to continue his family's tradition of magical mask art. The street performer thinks his problem is solved when he buys himself a young boy on the black market--only to discover he's taken in a girl when the takes his young charge home. Tonight's screening is introduced by director Wu Tianming and producer Luo Xueying. (91 mins., 35mm)
