In For Love and Gold, Monicelli skewers just about every possible stereotypical Hollywood portrayal of the Middle Ages. The film unfolds in a series of hilarious episodes that follow a clueless knight (Vittorio Gassman) who is being manipulated by a band of peasants aiming to take control of an Apulian village in southern Italy.
