Visiting Filmmakers

Rising stars and acclaimed masters come to screen their films and talk with Wexner Center audiences.

Sat, June 1, 2002 7 PM

Iranian-American director Ramin Serry visits the Wexner Center tonight to introduce his first feature film, Maryam.

"Timely in a way its maker could never have anticipated."--Los Angeles Times

Set in suburban New Jersey in 1979, just as the American hostage crisis in Iran unfolds, the film follows Mary, an Iranian-American teenager whose life is transformed when her fundamentalist Muslim cousin Ali comes to live with her family. As they experience anti-Iranian backlash, Mary is forced to examine her unique, culturally divided identity. (90 mins.)

Presented by the Wexner Center and the Iranian Cultural Association.

Special thanks to Akbar Mahdi.
