Another great benefit of being a Wexner Center member is the opportunity to see a terrific film screened just for you! Join us this month for Radiant City, a provocative reflection on why we live the way we do. This Canadian look at suburbia won a Special Jury Prize at the Vancouver Film Festival. (Not a member? See the Join! page of this web site to find out more about membership and easy ways to become a member now.) Radiant City examines the issue of suburban sprawl by focusing on how one Canadian family weighs the benefits (big houses at lower prices) with the costs (long commutes, strip mall aesthetics) of living in the "burbs." The results are at times hilarious and at others deeply troubling, as the filmmakers punctuate the family's story with commentary by urban planners, cultural critics, and contemporary philosophers. (86 mins, 35mm)
