Don't Bother to Knock

Roy Ward Baker, 1952

Many classic films are just as powerful today as when they were first released. We add such films from many genres to our schedule throughout the season. Many are shown on the occasion of their rereleases, in fresh, new or restored prints.

Marilyn Monroe digs into dramatic roles in the character-driven The Misfits and the film noirish Don't Bother to Knock. In The Misfits, her final film, Monroe plays a divorcee looking for comfort in the company of cowboys played by Clark Gable, Eli Wallach, and Montgomery Clift. This was also Gable's final film. With a screenplay by Monroe's former husband, playwright Arthur Miller. (124 mins., 35mm)

Don’t Bother to Knock stars Richard Widmark as a just-dumped pilot who meets a young babysitter (Monroe) staying at his hotel and soon discovers she’s the last person who should be trusted with someone’s kid. (76 mins., 35mm)

Don't Bother to Knock begins at 9:15 PM.
