Introduced by Guy Maddin

Director Guy Maddin introduces tonight's program, which celebrates Maddin's collaboration with actress Isabella Rossellini on his latest film, My Dad Is 100 Years Old, and on his 2003 feature The Saddest Music in the World.

Second feature start time: 8:15 pm.

Join us in Mershon Auditorium Lobby at 6 PM for a festive reception including a visit by Maddin. Written by and starring Isabella Rossellini and directed by Guy Maddin, My Dad Is 100 Years Old is a deeply personal and thrillingly eccentric tribute to Rossellini's father, Roberto Rossellini. Styled in Maddin's nostalgic palette, My Dad Is 100 Years Old considers the cinematic titan's relationship with Ingrid Bergman, Isabella's mother, and his troubled career, with the younger Rossellini playing her father's antagonists, including David Selznick and Federico Fellini. (35mm, 16 mins.) A conversation with Guy Maddin follows My Dad.

In the profoundly Maddinesque The Saddest Music in the World, Isabella Rossellini stars as a glass-legged beer baroness who sponsors an international competition to find which country has the world's saddest music. (35mm, 99 mins.)
