In August the film world was saddened by the loss of prolific Chilean-born filmmaker Raúl Ruiz, who left us with 113 films from his singular 48-year career. Evoking the intertwined narratives of Victor Hugo or Charles Dickens, Mysteries of Lisbon follows a child born out of an ill-fated aristocratic romance who yearns to learn the truth about his parentage.
