From the director of The Tin Drum and The Legend of Rita comes The Ninth Day, a drama inspired by a little-known incident from the Holocaust. This soul-searching film focuses on Father Henri Kremer, a dissident Catholic priest imprisoned by the Nazis in Dachau. Inexplicably released from the living hell of the concentration camp and reunited with his family in Luxembourg, he learns his freedom is only temporary, based on his willingness to persuade the country's Catholic authorities to capitulate to the Nazi occupation. Torn between duty, faith, and the terror of being returned to Dachau, the priest is given nine days to find a way to accomplish this task while protecting his family, remaining loyal to the thousands of clergy still imprisoned, and saving his own soul in the process. Starring August Diehl and Ulrich Matthes. (90 mins.)
