A Parisian crime novelist suffering from writer’s block visits the coldest city in France, where he meets Candice Lecoeur, a local beauty who has convinced herself she might be the reincarnation of Marilyn Monroe. But the two only meet after Candice has been found dead and declared a suicide by sleeping pills. The writer doesn’t buy it and discovers that reality is stranger than fiction. With strong lead performances and gorgeous winter landscapes, this offbeat mystery is the perfect contemporary companion to our summer of Marilyn and illustrates the impact that she still has on today’s filmmakers and moviegoers.
