Narrated by Martin Scorsese, Picasso and Braque Go to the Movies examines the link between cubism and early film and the myriad of ways that the cinema revolutionized our perception of time, space, and motion.

The film is an outgrowth of an exhibition mounted in 2007 at Pace Gallery, which was founded by Arne Glimcher, the film’s director. With Julian Schnabel, Chuck Close, and Bernice Rose. (60 mins., video)

Fast Film, which opens the evening, is an inventive animated homage to the heyday of Hollywood. It was made by folding and animating 65,000 sheets of paper with images from over 300 films in order to send iconic movie stars on new, surrealist action movie adventures. (14 mins., 35mm)
