"This is one of the funniest movies ever made. To see it now is to understand that."—Roger Ebert

Mel Brooks's Academy Award-winning The Producers is as likely to offend audiences in 2002 as when it was released in 1967. The Producers follows the mishaps of small-time impresarios Zero Mostel and Gene Wilder as they try to put Hitler in his rightful place—on Broadway, with chorus girls. Brooks won an Oscar for Best Original Screenplay for The Producers in 1969; his top-selling 2001 Broadway musical has since gone on to win a dozen Tonys and sell a small mountain of tickets.
