Quarta-feira de cinzas/Epilogue
As part of the Wexner Center’s 25th anniversary, The Box is dedicating the entire year of programming to work produced in the Film/Video Studio. Screenings in this free exhibition space for video, located just across from the Wexner Center Store, run continuously seven days a week, the same hours as our ticket office (Mon–Wed: 9 AM–6 PM; Thu–Fri: 9 AM–8 PM; Sat: 10 AM–8 PM; Sun: 11 AM–6 PM).
Via Brasil is the Wexner Center’s multidisciplinary initiative focusing on contemporary art and culture in Brazil made possible by a generous grant from the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation.
You can’t think of February and Brazil without thinking of Carnival. This captivating collaboration by two of Brazil’s leading contemporary artists looks at the pre-Lenten party’s aftermath (the video’s title, in Portuguese, translates as “Ash Wednesday”) from an insect’s point of view. Ants scurry around in their own celebration, carrying stray confetti from the night before. The sound artists O Grivo created a delightful soundtrack of miniature sambas for this absurd, mesmerizing carnival. (6 mins., video)
