In advance of Walter Salles'’s visit later in the week to introduce Central Station, we'’re thrilled to be able to present a special advance screening of his highly anticipated new film, On the Road.

Producer Francis Ford Coppola has been trying to bring an adaptation of Jack Kerouac'’s legendary Beat generation novel to the screen since 1979, and Salles (along with his Oscar-nominated Motorcycle Diaries screenwriter, Jose Rivera) has finally realized this long-standing dream. Bringing an outsider’s point of view to this quintessentially American story, Salles has created a lyrical and liberated road movie about Sal Paradise, his wild friend Dean Moriarty, and their journey across an America full of jazz, drugs, sex, and freedom. The all-star cast features Kristen Stewart, Kirsten Dunst, Viggo Mortensen, Amy Adams, Steve Buscemi, Elizabeth Moss, Terrence Howard, and breakout performances by Sam Riley and Garrett Hedlund. (137 mins., DCP)
