The Same River Twice
Films fresh from the international film festival circuit, area premieres, award winners, and recent audience favorites.... You'll find films you won't see anywhere else in central Ohio on the Contemporary Screen schedule.
An exhilarating, poignant, real-life Big Chill about four friends on a rafting trip in the 1970s and their contemporary lives.
Harvard film professor Robb Moss's The Same River Twice (78 mins.) mixes documentary footage of the director and four friends rafting on the Colorado River in the 1970s with present-day footage revealing the often startling developments their lives have taken since then. Cutting back and forth between the youthful, naked, and frolicking adventurers and their current incarnations, Moss's quietly affecting film evokes "an aura of collective happiness...so palpable it puts a lump in your throat" (New York Times).
