"A delight from start to finish! Saturates the screen with humor, music and sex."--Matt Zoller Seitz, New York Press

From Tunisia, Satin Rouge recalls the exuberant emotions of such 1950s Hollywood melodramas as All That Heaven Allows.

Satin Rouge focuses on Lilia, a young widowed seamstress whose headstrong teenaged daughter leads her into an exotic nightclub netherworld of belly dancers and nighttime pleasure-seekers.

As she replaces matronly housedresses for flamboyant bar-girl garb, Lilia gradually emerges from her melancholy into life. "A handsomely produced and exhilarating romantic drama" (Variety). (2002; 91 mins.)

Belle and Sebastian
