with Special Guests Eddie George and Jim Lachey

Tonight, we present three films from the vaults of NFL Films in tribute to former Buckeye Ed Sabol who has contributed so much to the game loved by so many.

On August 6, NFL Films founder and Ohio State University alum Ed Sabol will be inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton. NFL Films effectively began in 1962 with the Packers-Giants NFL championship game and has grown so exponentially that the sounds and images the company has accumulated serve as the sport’s history over the past 50 years. Kicking the program off is one of the most influential sports films ever made, They Call It Pro Football (1966). Also screening are Anatomy of a Championship (1964), which covers the Cleveland Browns victory over Baltimore in the 1964 NFL Championship, and NFL ’74: Championship Chase (1974), which features highlights from that season and includes footage of the great Steelers, Raiders, Vikings, and Dolphins teams of the era. (program 104 mins., video)

Join us after the films for a panel discussion with Eddie George (Tennessee Titans) and Jim Lachey (Washington Redskins), both former Buckeye players who enjoyed sterling professional careers!

For OSU Alumni Join the OSU Alumni Association for a reception from 6 to 7 PM in the Wexner Center Café. Snacks, a cash bar, a chance to mingle with fellow alumni, and a visit from Eddie George and Jim Lachey are the perfect kick-off to the evening’s films. Find out how to register here.

Special thanks to Colleen Smith-Grubb and Lisa Heckman, of NFL Films, and to Shelly Poe, from Ohio State's Athletic Department.
