When the Clouds Roll By In Again--Out Again

Double Feature

wex grid image fill

Our September silent film series continues with a double feature--featuring Fairbanks as skeptic superstitious hero and jilted Jersey youth. Fairbanks's suspicion of the then-novel idea of psychiatry comes through in the witty satire When the Clouds Roll By, where he plays a superstitious hero who places himself in the care of an eager psychiatrist. Watch for its noted surreal slow-motion chase scene and bizarre dream sequence. Directed by Victor Fleming, best known for his work on The Wizard of Oz. (1919; 67 mins.)

In Again--Out Again casts Fairbanks as a jilted Jersey youth whose drinking lands him behind bars. When it's time to be released, he contrives to stay in order to be near a beautiful jail worker. (John Emerson, 1917; 60 mins.)
