The Box

As part of the Wexner Center’s 25th anniversary, The Box is dedicating the entire year of programming to work produced in the Film/Video Studio. Screenings in this free exhibition space for video, located just across from the Wexner Center Store, run continuously seven days a week, the same hours as our ticket office (Mon–Wed: 9 AM–6 PM; Thu–Fri: 9 AM–8 PM; Sat: 10 AM–8 PM; Sun: 11 AM–6 PM).

Alice in Wonderland meets Pee Wee's Playhouse in these three installments of Whispering Pines, a series of videos that follows the bizarre adventures of Cynthia, played by an admitted alter-ego of Shana Moulton.

Over the episodes, Cynthia dabbles in New Age healing, deep cleanses her pores, ikebana (the Japanese art of flower arranging), and imbibes a potent but sugar-free dose of Crystal Light. The works culminate in the discovery of the path to a parallel universe in the ceiling of her candy-colored living room. Moulton's lo-fi video effects and strangely earnest pop culture references add to the surreal experience. (18 mins., video courtesy of Electronic Arts Intermix, New York)
