WexLab: Ohio Shorts

May 13

Artist educator and filmmaker Alex Mangen from Dayton and a group of enthusiastic teens had a wonderful time in the Wexner Center Performance Space on Saturday, Febrary 12 at a workshop designed to help participants prepare to enter the Youth Division of Ohio Shorts. We discussed comedy, reviewed examples, and set up and shot takes all day, as we worked on a comedy short that spoofed an advertisement. We all learned a lot about what it might be like to work on a small independent professional video shoot, and we also viewed some of the videos from 2010 Ohio Shorts Youth Division, fielded questions about the program, and even got in a quick tour of Six Solos too. You can see Alex working with some of the teens in the photo above. And here's the final short Alex and the students made.
